Only sand and dust, as far as you can see. This is the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes in Death Valley. It is easy to get lost here, but it is also easy to see how awesome nature can be. I wasn't in a landscape like this before and I will always remember this place and hope we can visit it again.
Walking through the waves of sand and have a new awesome view every step. It is hard to climb those dunes, but the outlook is worth it. The problem, at least for me, was that there is a bigger one just behind the one I already climbed so we walked quite deep into the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes without seeing the way back. But in the end, we found back to the parking place. Fortunately, it was December 31st and it was quite cold in contrast to the heat during the summer times.
Finally, we arrived in Death Valley and our first stop was the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes where I found this mummified tree right at the parking place. It looked so surreal, a tree in this environment, at least in the past it should have looked better and fresher than today.
