Lonely Walker

This lonely walker is enjoying the last light above the pacific. It was quite late after a very long day, we walked around 27km, and we just wanted back to our car to get to the hotel before we would head towards death valley the next day. But before that, we enjoyed the last light as well and there couldn't be a better start for our journey which starts here in Los Angeles and will end here as well, but this is 20 days away.

Happy Hour

After sunrise, when the sky starts glowing and the light gets better each second, it looks like there is happy-hour for the seagulls. My wife and I walked back to our car and all around us, it looks like on the picture. It was an amazing first day of our honeymoon trip.

Into the Pacific

While sitting on the beach, enjoining the sunset with my wife the sandpipers lost their fear and came by quite close. I took the opportunity and took some shots with them and the sunset behind. It was the moment when the sun dives into the pacific. A magical moment, especially during the honeymoon.

Pacific Sunset

After walking the whole day along the beach between Santa Monica and Venice, ca. 27km, we waited at the beach for the sunset. This was our first pacific sunset and it was amazing. All those colors while the sun goes down. I already smile again while writing this.

Santorini Sunset

While waiting for the bus to bring us back to the ferry port we got an epic sunset above Santorini. I was not able to catch all moments but it was wonderful and a very happy ending for the long day.

Just Before Sunrise

Do you know the moment, just before the sunrise? All the glowing is on its melting point and you have the feeling that everything is waiting for the sun to rise upon the horizon. This is an awesome moment which you normally enjoy alone. Same for me this time, but afterward I could go home to my darling.

Straw Rent

Another awesome sunrise picture from the same location as before. This time the straw rent and the how the sunrise lightens the straw rent. I could not stop taking pictures as I felt I'm running out of time to get all the awesome views on this sunrise.

Just Before the Sunrise

The morning was freezing cold and the battery of my camera was getting low but I could not stop taking pictures of this unbelievable sunrise.

Sunset in Paradise

Can you imagine to see this every day? We had this on Crete every evening. And after days of just wondering about this sunset in paradise, I took my camera and took this picture. The main problem with this picture was to tell my daughter to not go through the scene during exposure. The problem was, that I showed it to her just before and she found a totally funny to jump in front of the lens. But in the end, I had the picture and my daughter was happy as well because I had many pictures of her as a ghost.

Zeche Ewald Second Try

A nice view on Zeche Ewald from the mining waste tip Hoheward. I found this place because this was on our weekly running route. During a late run, I saw, that the sun goes down behind one of the hoist frames. So we came back another day to take some pictures during sunset. It was a wonderful time during sunset with my fiancee and we enjoyed the time together. But we were quite late on the way back, so we arrived at the car in complete darkness. But still, a wonderful evening, I never forget.

Zeche Ewald

Glowing Sunset

Glowing Sunset near Haan. After I tried some pictures of the highway I also discovered this spot, where the sunset looks absolutely impressive.

Red Laser

Another try to do some pictures during moonlight. This time I got a car in front of my lens. Because of the long exposure time, the red lights look like a red laser. Just like the one from the death star in Star Wars. (I know the laser in Star Wars is green) I love those picture during the night, especially if you use the natural light from the moon or the light from cities or cars. Together with some clouds and the sky, it looks fascinating to me.

Moonlight

This is one of my first shots by night, trying to use the moonlight as the only source of light. I got even some lens flares from the moonlight. The orange glimmer is a town, ca. 10km far away. I find the moot of the picture very mystical, with the blue sky and the moon partially covered by clouds.

Sky is on Fire

I'm not sure why, but every sunrise in Cannes was epic. Look at his. Looks like the sky is on fire. We had this every morning. At least for those who were up at this time. Actually, most of the others were still sleeping as the week was full of all-day sessions and an evening program. But I prefer to stay up early and use the time to enjoy the silence of the city. Only the click of my camera and the sea breaks the silence. What a wonderful way to start a new day.

Moon and Sunrise

After a short night, I went up very early to take pictures of the sunrise. What I found, when the sun comes up, was an astonishing scene where the sunrise came up above Cannes and you could see the moon as well. The light was perfect to get both into one picture. I did this picture from one of the small piers from one of the hotels in Cannes. I was the only one this morning on the streets, except one fisherman and he was also impressed by the scene with the moon and the sunrise. I had a quick chat with him, but my French is not that best and his English wasn't as well.

Sunset Behind Mountains

After a long day in Cannes and on the way back to the hotel, I had this wonderful view of the sea in Cannes with this wonderful sunset behind the mountains. It was the perfect light and perfect moment to take this picture. And by the way, I had to take this way every day and this was the only day with this perfect light. Unfortunately, the beach was closed, so I dared to go there to take pictures. At least on this day.

Sunset in Cannes

Last year, I visited Cannes. On my first day, I climbed a small hill up to a church. From there you had a wonderful view down to the city, but also to west with the long beach and some mountains on the other side of the bay. I was there during sunset and the light was wonderful. I could make some picture of a very dramatic sunset in Cannes.

Sun Behind Clouds

In the evening, the sun was behind the clouds, but you could see at least some parts of the sun. And the clouds created a wonderful scene with shadows and lights. It was totally impressive.

Sunset in Platanias

I was able to shot this sunset in Platanias on Crete during a stay there, 2 years ago. Especially the sun beams, created by the clouds were really impressive. It was a special atmosphere when the sun hits the horizon.

Wonderful Sunset

First day in paradise. Our holidays on Crete started with a wonderful sunset at the evening. With some clouds, the sunset was very dramatically and I had only some minutes before the sun was gone. Not very funny for my daughter, who wanted to play with me instead of taken photos.

Sunlight

After a wonderful spring day, dark clouds were coming in the afternoon and they hide the sun. Only parts of the sunlight could make it through. I tried to capture them, but it was very hard to make them visible with the blue sky behind them.

Red Sky

Red Sky at the end of the day. It was a wonderful day but the sunset was even better. I took this picture of the sunset with the tress in front of the red sky and a small lake behind the tress which now looks red as well.

Dark Evening

During our holidays in Denmark, I took this picture during the sunset. It was already a very dark evening, but the last sunbeams where still there.

Colorful Sunrise

In our last holiday trip, my doughter was up very early and I was able to get a shot of this colorful sunrise.

I was on holidays and my little doughter got me quite earky out of the bed and I saw the sun rise throught clouds.

The Moon
